I needed to take a look at my rear suspension because reasons, but I can't get the car onto ramps because the tailpipe is too low. I found a solution.

Inflate the rear suspension all the way! No need for ramps! Note this picture is from my last autocross, and that isn't quite all the way up (note that raising it that much is an AWFUL idea in a race environment)

Don't get mad, but I just don't see the point in investing money trying to improve a FWD automatic car, specially a FWD land barge. If you want a cool land barge that is worth investing money into, get a crown vic and swap a manual transmission.

Because the Buick is what I had and it has a much more comfortable interior, more features, and a plenty tunable engine and moddable platform. On a shoestring budget it is making more power than it did 228,000 miles ago, gets to 60 in 8 seconds, and has front and rear sway bars from much heavier cars that results in surprisingly good handling when coupled with the lo-pro tires.

Also it's unusual.

Unusual does not equal cool. I don't know how much your car is worth, but maybe with the money you have invested into it you could've selled your car and bought an S chassis, Mustang, or a truck like denver. Or any RWD platform. I'm a big FWD hater, sorry.

There's no reason to hate on his car though.

He's exactly what oppositelock represents, he loves his car (whether it's cool or not) and he's interested in improving it, tracking it, and having fun with it.

You say unusual does not equal cool, I happen to think his car is pretty awesome. Just like you think unusual does not equal cool - you don't equal the ultimate qualifier of what is " cool "

Hey, I'm digging the Murdersofa... I'm also looking forward to seeing it run in anger at some of the Solo events down in Yoder, this year.

I think your sofa and mine may be close, though. You're 130 hp (in stock form) up on mine, but mine is RWD and manual.

Hey, I'm pretty close to parting out my '98 Riv. I'm pretty sure the Addco front and rear sway bars with fit, both G-body cars. The rear will make the biggest improvement for you.

I'm not hating on his car. I'm just trying to say that he should start with a better platform. But as others said, it's not going to be his only car forever. He will later upgrade to something better, so yeah, he should enjoy his car as he does now.

Right now I have an STS FE3 rear sway bar and I'm picking up a GXP FE5 front sway bar on monday, so I doubt much improvement can be made there... I'm jealous of your riv though. What happened to it? I've been wanting one for quite a while.

I had absolutely no choice in this car. It was a hand-me-down with 210,000 miles on it and making 170hp at the crank. I've spent less than $500 in the mods I've done and the enjoyment I've gotten out of this beast has been more than worth it.

Every time my car starts boring me I grab a soldering iron, welding torch, or my wallet. It's pretty easy to make things interesting again, even if it's just fixing a speaker or welding a poorly-done strut tower brace

Yeah definitely. It runs great, pulls hard. I'd love to sell it as a package. GenV blower, ZZP VS cam. Something in the valve train is a little noisy, I'd want to pull the valve covers and make sure the rockers are okay, it could be the injectors (Bosch 42 lb) that are noisy... Nothing too loud but I notice it. It's probably got 100K on the bottom end, might need fresh bearings too.
